Ways to Support Wildlife Conservation Movements
The more involved you become in wildlife conservation, the more you will see the reality. What reality? The decrease of the number of species, both plants, and animals, on the planet. Moreover, the more concerned you will become about the state of the world and for its future. Luckily, wildlife conservation movements have been emerging from place to place, powered by people who care for the wildlife and environment. As this is happening in more places, it gives a chance for more people to participate in it.
Supporting wildlife conservation is an extraordinary thing one can do for the planet in this lifetime. If you have the chance to do it, you definitely should do it.
As of September 2020, population sizes of mammals, fish, birds, reptiles, and amphibians have declined an average of 68% between 1970 and 2016, according to World Wildlife Fund’s (WWF) Living Planet Report 2020. Populations in Latin America and the Caribbean have fared worst, with an average decline of 94%. Global freshwater species have also been disproportionately impacted, declining 84% on average. This report is found on the World Wilde Life. You do not want to have more animals deteriorating, just like the vaquita porpoise. The vaquita porpoise (Phocoena sinusis) is a sea animal, specifically a part of the cetacean. They are the world’s smallest and most endangered cetacean, a group of marine mammals. If you still want to see marine mammals, such as whales, dolphins, and porpoises, you should take action in the next couple of years. Even the tiniest actions that you can do in your daily life can make a difference. Helping in the betterment of the future is an extraordinary thing to do. Without a healthy ecosystem, future generations will not be blessed to see the things we’ve been taking for granted.
This blog will bring you some of the ways you can support wildlife conservation movements.
Use Social Media
Luckily, nowadays, social media has become something good more than it is terrible. When it comes to movements like these, many people are being informed about it. You can find a lot of organizations that are now on social media sharing valuable information with the masses. You don’t have to create your pages; even liking, sharing, and commenting on their posts matters. You are helping in getting the words out with your friends through social media. No matter how harsh or absurd social media is for people, it still helps in so many ways. As long as you use it appropriately and adequately, you are going to be a great example.
Go On Travels
If you can, then you should. If you think about it, traveling can do you good. Why not make your travels valuable and purposeful. Who would have thought that traveling can help you make changes in the world? Choosing wildlife traveling can urge you to support conservation movements. Because you will be exposed to animals, you will want to protect them as you will be attached to them. If you have not noticed it yet, seeing animals can melt your heart. Nicki Geigert’s book about animals of all sizes and shapes is a great book to help you understand this feeling.
Be a Responsible Citizen
Being a responsible citizen can take you to the highest points in your life. There are so many simple ways on how you can be one. If you must know, roadkill has been very imminent these days. You can find many reports showing how animals are getting killed on the road. The number is rapidly increasing. This has contributed to species extinction. You can help in stopping this, like avoiding reckless driving. It would be best if you had a presence of mind when you are driving. This will assist you in keeping an eye out for the animals roaming in the streets looking for food. These animals are out because they see something on the streets, and they would think that it can be something eaten.
Overall, wildlife can provide peace of mind. It won’t hurt you to do these examples mentioned above. At the end of the day, these animals are an essential part of the planets, just like you are. Let us help our planet in coming back to maximum. It’s for our good.
